We just came back from an insurance seminar this weekend and basically it is difficult for acupuncture to get covered not because it is not covered or coverable. It is difficult because it is not part of many plans. If you would like for your insurance to cover acupuncture please do this:
Call or write your HR department and ask them to negotiate acupuncture in to your plan. This can be done in addition to your regular plan.
Insurance company are vying for your business so you can ask for coverage and they will say yes. They may limit the number of visits per year so try to get as many as possible. If they say 12 visits ask for 30.

The more people ask for it the more likely you will be covered.
